Although 15% goes into a Coogan account, that isn't nearly enough. Over half should go into the account for the child's college education. It's too easy for the parents to suddenly see their kid as a cash cow if the money starts rolling in. Parents should support their children, not the other way around!
Is it more sensible to spend $4 on a cup of Starbucks coffee, or $4 on a cupcake (the latest craze in Los Angeles)? People throw money away everyday on stupid things, at least with the Lottery you can enjoy the fantasy of "I might actually win something". At least it doesn't make you fat, or give you heartburn.
I've managed to live without credit cards for 5 years now and I'm much happier. I don't dread those bills coming in every month, I pay cash so I don't waste money buying things I don't really need, I'm able to put a little bit away every paycheck (and believe me I'm not making that much), and I don't have that burden...more
Of course the plumbers posting comments on this article would always say to call a plumber! Prevention is the best thing and they do list a couple of things that do work. Use drain screens and don't pour grease down the drain. Just use common sense when it comes to pouring things down the drain.
