If the police or any agency was involved in the search, I say charges should be filed for reimbursement as well. It's illegal to provide false information.
One of the main issues here is that a smell of smoke CAN & WILL trigger certain patients. For example: Ones who are undergoing chemo are extremely sensitive to any and all smells and tastes: they simply can't handle it.
