When we got married 5 years ago ($5k for the whole kit and caboodle), we did a LOT ourselves. I made the invitations (scored cardstock for $0.25 per package of 50 sheets at a fire sale) and we used postcards for responses to save on postage. We made CDs for our favors. We had an early wedding with a luncheon reception...more
My husband and I are in our mid 30's and living on my income alone as he is a full time student after a series of layoffs. We bring in less than $40K and live in Southeastern Massachusetts, we get no state assistance for anything. It isn't easy, but we are raising our 2 kids in a comfortable apartment (saving for a hou...more

I planned my entire wedding five years ago on $5k budget including our wedding attire, a sit-down meal, flowers, entertainment, and beautiful venues for the ceremony and the reception. A few years ago I helped my friend plan her wedding for under $10K just north of Boston (a very expensive area to do anything). There...more
The show does a disservice on multiple levels. For one, it discredits the "couponer" and creates a stigma on those who coupon (without hoarding) and do so to live comfortably within their means. For another, it does NOT paint a realistic picture of what happens for the average couponers. There have been stores shopped ...more
Will ya look at that...people on TV who actually DON'T have anything to hide. Amazing.
And for those who say that the Duggars can only support their family because of TLC - you are very wrong. Many years ago they put up a radio tower on a corner of their property and lease the space to cell phone companies (which t...more
