I wouldn't call these models the most fuel efficient for battle. There is no real engine or drivetrain improvements from previous generations, they appear to have high center of gravity, and not very agile. Would be cheaper just to buy more Humvees and develop better IED detection technologies.

BTW, two American automobile manufacturers are actually doing quite well IMHO: Ford and Tesla. Both have agreements with Toyota (plus other companies), and Ford especially survived on its own without U.S. taxpayer bailouts.
