I forgot to mention it in my post, but I do leave my lady barber a 40% tip.  They are on their feet all day and really depend on tips as much as wait staff to earn a good check.  My nephew works at a seafood joint and the waiters can pull in 175 on a weekend evening, but add it all up for the week and it's barely a liv...more

I've often left tips in the 25% range, most often around 18 to 20 but in hard dollars I think maybe 20 to 25 dollars.  I just don't spend large amounts in restaurants and bars to justify more than that.  If I was in a position to occasionally gift someone deserving big money I would.  I do donate to a lot of charities ...more
