Just a guess Pete but could it be because of the farm subsidizes that are paid to the fly over states?  I believe that the states you are referring to do receive WAY to much farm money.

Please call your Senators, and congressman, ask them why the dollar in your pocket just dropped another 1/2 a penny? Where does the Fed get it's money to purchase anything? What product do the sell?  What service do they provide? We need to stop this insanity NOW!
