I opt for the stainless steel countertop. Check out this video example of a bar countertop where they must have used a sander and made swirl designs. With the right lighting, it makes it look holographic!!

Just putting a simple chopstick in the cup of water while it's heating, will disrupt the surface tension and avoid the 'eruption' of hot liquid. OBVIOUSLY you wouldn't put a plastic spoon or metal spoon in the cup, that would be dangerous (DUH!)
Actually Cedar releases rather toxic substances naturally, when there's too much of it and it becomes concentrated. Would you want to live constantly inside a cedar closet? It would be the same with a home made exclusively with cedar.
