No, I lived in Poquoson, Virginia and the hurricane was Isabel. and I mistyped the year. It was 2004. We have a major hurricane almost every year, not always destructive like Isabel. That was the worst since 1969.

Between a rock and a hard place.  If she signed the divorce papers stipulating this and she can not marry her partner, then they are destined to live apart until the kids are grown? What a crock. The ex is probably a good ole Tex**** embarrassed that he lost out to a woman.

Yes, been in quite a few. My small city, population 10,000, was almost washed off the face of the earth in 2005. 90% of the homes were flooded with 8 feet of water inside the homes. 23 feet over sea level. I lived in the 10%. As sad as it is that people, children especially, lost their lives due to this storm, they chose to live there. Just like I live on the east coast and expect hurricanes, I choose to live here. I would not expect the government to bail me out. Government mandated? It should be simple common sense.

The same thing happened to me and my family after we got off a cruise boat in Florida hours before a hurricane. The hotel cost more, bottled water was $3.00, a pizza was $30 from the only place we found that still had electricity. If you are living your life the right way, you would have no time to worry about what your neighbors are doing. I find that it is none of my business what my neighbor does on the property he paid for, lives on and pays taxes on.
