No, I lived in Poquoson, Virginia and the hurricane was Isabel. and I mistyped the year. It was 2004. We have a major hurricane almost every year, not always destructive like Isabel. That was the worst since 1969.

My small city, population 10,000, was almost washed off the face of the earth in 2005. 90% of the homes were flooded with 8 feet of water inside the homes. 23 feet over sea level. I lived in the 10%. As sad as it is that people, children especially, lost their lives due to this storm, they chose to live there. Just like I live on the east coast and expect hurricanes, I choose to live here. I would not expect the government to bail me out. Government mandated? It should be simple common sense.
