We here in the US get upset about the silliest things. Last summer: Sitting on the beach at San Vito lo Capo with my 5 y/o son, two girls wearing only string bottoms [string plus a triangle half he size of my palm in front, no tops], had sat up for a minute. I thought my son's staring might become intrusive so I told ...more
However - out in the real world of small city USA. There are 12 houses for sale in about 1/2 mile in my nice middle class neighborhood (city pop. 100,000). I went to an open house 3 doors away Sunday, nice 1,700 sq.ft. 3 br 2ba with 3rd bedroom converted to wonderful den with dressy entrance door added going out to lar...more
I'm not sure if it's just that the jars are glass there, and plastic here, but that stuff tastes better in europe. So much so that my wife brings home 2 or 3 super-sized jars whenever we visit her family in Italy. Two of the big europe-wide grocery chains (and they have stores in US now), Aldi and Lidl, are both German...more
Although I'm a 200+ lb. (in the gym 4X per wk) guy, I'd love this pricing system since I never fly without my 5 and 7 y/o boys (48 and 51 lbs) to see grandma and grandpa in Italy. That would be huge saving for me, I'm sure (and an incentive for my wife to get off those last few extra pounds).

For an article with so few comments, there are a lot of strange ones! As one of the "leading edge" of boomer retirees, I see my life MUCH differently than my parents. I did certainly start over, and now have boys 5 and 7, but didn't really plan to retire until I went to the big stock market sale in April 2009, and a fe...more
A pervasive idea in so many posts is quite interesting, and adds another problem to the aritlcle: Those asking for "What I've paid into Social Security - it'll be all I need". Actually, if you had a way to resurrect all your W-2's for your working lifetime, you'd be amazed at how LITTLE you've put in, and if you could...more
Yes, we mustn't forget that people who come here illegally, even if brought here under false pretenses, are on the list of those who "Deserve just what they get...."
Along with: women dressing in 'provocative' clothing; people who don't struggle out of poverty; people who get laid off from their jobs; people who driv...more
As many are saying - wrong merchandise for the target audience, that is, the ACTUAL typical shopper who goes, and has money to spend, at JCP. The shopper they WISH they had has seen nothing to attract them to JCP, and that's especially true since the merchandise seems to be both ill-suited to the demographics and the a...more
