Weak housing reports hurt stocks

I find it funny that last week stocks jumped almost 200 points in one day because of a current  report  that showed  new housing starts were up. However, two days earlier a report had been released showing that current home values continue to fall and so did the market that day. Now we are told that newly built home pu...more

Dow hits two-year high

Actually VF the money supply in this country isn't static like you seem to imply. The money supply goes up and down as determined by the Federal Reserve. It was explained on NBC nightly news that when the Fed decided to start buying up the US's bad debt that more money would have to be printed in order to do this.

Dow hits two-year high

Taxpayer1, I didn't really expect to get an answer from deklen. I find that Liberals don't answer questions that make them look to close at their own policies. Detroit is the perfect example of Liberal policies gone bad. This is the handout city of America, and all the Liberal promises have failed. deklen is a Socialis...more

Dow hits two-year high

DEKLEN, Since you blame the Republican's for all our country's ills please explain something to me. I live in suburban Detroit. As those of us who live here know, Detroit is an economic wasteland. Please explain to me how "repub policies turn many into poor and then neighborhoods into trash" as it is related to Detroit...more

Dow hits two-year high

The hypocrisy of the stock market is displyed in this article. Retail sales are up 0.8% but Best Buy has sales of $500,000 less than their 3rd quarter projection. This means their sales were probably down or at least flat compared to last year. How much did their prices go up this past year? And yet the stock market go...more

Dow hits two-year high

Thanks to those of you that answered my question. You made my point. I don't know what the Federal propaganda machine is quoting as the current rate of inflation but I will tell you it is full of garbage(I've heard around 1.5%). I was laid off from a local SE Michigan hardware retailer in Sept. As management we receive...more

Dow hits two-year high

When it is reported  that retail sales went up 0.8% does this mean that 0.8% more units were sold or does it mean that 0.8% more dollars were spent?  Could some one please answer this question.

Tech gains help stocks rebound

If the stock market is so forward looking but what they see is inaccurate information then it is based on a false premise. And if what MidWestModerate say is true then it would not have reacted so dramatically to current economic factors so unequally.

Tech gains help stocks rebound

MirageGuy, You are right that the debasing of the dollar may play a part in the increase in the market but the 250 point jump on Tuesday was driven by the report of 93,000 new jobs in Nov. And a 107 point jump the next day based on pending home loans of which most won't actually be approved. And gold and silver prices ...more
