Back in the 1960's our neighbors had a pet skunk and a pet raccoon.  Both were great pets.  The skunk was in a rabbit hutch and let out to interact with the family and neighbors. The raccoon was tethered out on a chain and we were able to visit her and pet her.  Nice critters!  We had a flying squirrel that was rescued...more

You can't live on $200 a month in food stamps?  I live in Alaska and get no food stamps but food for me is at least $30 a month less.  That includes about $70 in diet soda to go with my Canadian Mist.  Grow some stuff in planting pots.  You may qualify for CSFP or TFAP boxes.  Is there a Food Bank or a soup kitchen in ...more

Will waitresses finally get a minimum wa...

Lots of places make it mandatory for waitstaff to tip out bartenders, cooks, dishwashers and bus people out of their own pocket, not to mention that they are charged an 8% tax on sales receipts and some places charge waitstaff $3.00 per credit card transaction.  Makes me glad that I'm retired from the food and beverage...more

Yes, homemade is the best.  You can make more of one thing and then freeze it in individual bags for another meal down the line.  So many of today's people don't know how to cook from scratch or don't have the time so they rely on the pre-packaged stuff that contains loads of sodium and artificial flavors, etc.  Too sa...more

Take a look at the sodium in all packaged food and canned food, not just frozen.  It's outlandish!

Wal-Mart has a problem with not-so-fresh...

I seldom shop at Walmart.  Used to buy meat there a couple of years ago, but now the cases are next to empty and the meat is mostly imported.  The produce used to be great.  I gather they fired the produce manager as the quality is very poor.  I do buy summer clothing there because of the prices that beat out Fred Meye...more
