Too many things cost too much to deal in cash only. And you become a target once thieves realize that you're always sporting a bankroll. Do you also get your job salary in cash? Most companies insist upon electronic direct deposits.
URA if you saw all of that illegal stuff happening while the cops were giving you a ticket, did you then point it out to them and file a complaint? If not, you're part of the problem.
Just please don't turn around and go back deeply into debt. One good party to celibrate, but not a party every day. You'll always have some debt, but if you can keep ahead of it and also put away some savings / emergency fund you will do just fine.
