How to make sure the extra money goes to the principle? -- There's usually a place on the payment stub/website where you are paying that asks where you want the extra money to go -- principle or escrow.  If not, contact the lender.

I read an article 2 days ago that said not to use credit cards. I read an article yesterday that said cash was not accepted on airlines to purchase beverages in-flight.  Now here is an article saying not to use debit cards.   Interesting.
