To be fair to the dad, explosions of this magnitude are VERY rare, even with plant fires.  I'm sure if he knew what was about to transpire he wouldn't have done it.

Thank you, it's about time someone brought up mental health.  Previous assault weapons bans haven't worked (Columbine happened during the last ban); we need to get to the root of the problem.

Aww, now my whole day is ruined; I really needed legitimate praise from you. Look at the comments under the "best" tab for both this article and the one regarding "American Guns."  Not a completely representative sample, I know, but you get the idea.
