Even though the USPS "told" me I was making $51K a year, I only saw about $35 before taxes. I thought I was in tall cotton, but chose to quit & move out of state. Sorry, it you can't afford a <$30 K mortgage, how would you pay it off?? Most people I know in <$30K homes are renters that neither have the pot to pi$$ in nor the window to throw it out of.  A $30K home mortgage should be less than a week's salary... if you're working 'on the books'.
