When crossing a parking lot one day with my then 3 and 5 yr olds, I told them to give me their hands.  The oldest asked why.  Her 3 yr old sister pipes up and says "Cause if you don't a car will hit you and you'll go SPLAT like a tomato."  That phrase has stuck and she's turning 8 this month.
