Although poorly worded, it is not a crazy thought. He is not talking about those in slavery 150 years aqo but their decendents today. Over all, African-Americans in America today are better off than those still in Africa where the killing, starvation, etc. is still going on.
NYT was a great newspaper but time has run out. It was a self inflicted wound. What is really sad is that the New Orleans Picayune is no longer a daily.
