Huebster, please don't lump everyone who gets the EIC into the category of living off the government. We receive NO government assistance of any kind... except for that silly tax refund.
After taking my tax info to my accountant yesterday, I left shaking my head. My husband is retired, my income is low, we have a child in college, and we will get a refund of thousands of dollars more than we paid. I'm not arguing with the government, but it's no wonder they're broke.
