Dick Bove a former bank regulator and current analyst made a good observation about this proposed bill, in essence how it hobbles US banks while doing nothing toreducfe the risk presented by foreign banks to the world's economy....expecially Chinese banks. The U.S. Government lends AIG $182 billion at 14.5% interest...the U.S. Government didn't have any money to lend....they were running a deficit....so they borrowed the money by issuing Treasuries....Treasuries which paid (depends on the term) say 1%.

....Chicago politicians...for the most part...don't see it that way!
I think a lot of investors are waiting for JP Morgan and the other bank results. If loan demand is beginning to increase that tells you alot about the economy.
