If I were injured in a foreign country, I would want to be repatriated to the US for treatment.  If I was comatose, I am sure my family would want me returned ASAP.  Just curious, but isn't it illegal for a company to hire undocumented workers?

Gasoline tax is not a flat tax  it is what's called a user fee.  If you buy gas you use the roads, therefore you pay for the upkeep.  However you are correct that it is a fairer way to provide services and tax simplification.

I once worked for a company Bain bought in 2005, Unisource.  Within 4 years the workforce in my plant (Southborough, Ma) had shrunk from 130 to 25.  This was the branch they kept open.
