What happened to thank-you notes?

I couldn't agree more.  My mother taught me to write thank-you notes as a child, and I taught my sons to do the same.  Since my family and I have always lived out-of-state or out-of-country from our childhood families, unacknowledged gifts are a sore point with me.  It takes a lot of time, energy and sometimes money to...more

Long-time pen pal friendships

I found a pen pal in 1977, through a Saturday morning children's program. I was given the addresses of two women, and wrote to both in the beginning. After a year, the one living in Swansea, England, and I stopped writing, due to lack of common interests. The other woman, living in Staffordshire, England, and I continu...

Which plants & flowers are easiest?

I've lived in different regions: Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, Texas, California, Kansas and now Arizona. Marigolds were the easiest to maintain everywhere, except in the SW. Bulbs of all types, Rosemary, Lavender, Roses, Geraniums (on the porch) and Zinnias grow beautifully in AZ, as well as...more
