If you make $12/hr, you shouldn't be driving a 2012 ANYTHING. Buy a 3-5 year old car with 40k miles on it. It will last long enough to get you to your next career phase, where you can afford something more luxurious. And computers are everywhere; ditch the smartphone. @Batter Up - Your comment is what bothers me about the state of American politics today. While we probably agree on most political issues, your argument is critically flawed. Pay your bills on time, and don't open unnecessary accounts or over extend your existin...more
@mustangwilli : Prepaid cards = horrible idea. Did you read the article? Use a credit card from a major issuer and you have ZERO (at most $50) liability for fraudulent activity. Monitor your account activity every week or so, and call immediately if something is wrong. It's ridiculous to pay fees for prepaid car...more
Take your kids to serve food at a homeless shelter/soup kitchen on Christmas day. It will teach them a valuable lesson about poverty, generosity and how to recognize their own greed. The iPad will seem less important when they see a child their own age who doesn't have a home or hasn't had a hot meal for a few days. ...more
