I'm with you on the shoes 100%.  Not worth the pain and suffering.  I also buy organic most of the time.  Goes beyond the scope of the article, but sometimes the "cheaper" option has environmental and social justice costs that don't ding me directly, but hurt all of us in the long run.  Maybe a topic for down the line....more
