I think what the article is saying is this may be a win-win.  You could pay a lower interest lower fee mortgage to your parents and THEY are getting a higher return on their investment.  It is not saying to give your deadbeat child with a credit score of 400 a really great loan and hope for the best.

This only makes sense if you have no other high interest debt and if the extra money outweighs the tax benefit of the mortgage interest that you are paying.  If you have a house at even 6%, don't add extra to that payment if you have a credit card at 18%.  Thought is would have been a good idea to mention that in the a...more

Actually, it is because employers do not have to use the new 2011 withholding tables until January 31, 2010 (see irs.gov notice 1036).  This happens when they change things so late in the year.  They have to allow time for payroll providers to make the necessary changes.  They have to offset the SS tax to reflect the 4...more
