It seems the underlying issue here is the American tendency to see retirement as a black-or-white proposition. The key to the good life at any age is to Be Active. I lived in Japan for a number of years and was struck by the fact that older people are out and about and part of their communities. You see them riding the...more
To a considerable extent, the middle class (average Americans) have done this to themselves. American CEOs are making 350 times what the Average worker makes (a fact that is easily Googled); income distribution has skewed to the top few percent dramatically - and yet the middle class increasingly fails to take advantag...more
"...the NRA has taken a tough political position because they are afraid if they give an inch they will end up giving a mile" someone writes. That's like concluding that passing a law on fuel economy for vehicles means "the government" is going to take away our cars. The NRA makes A Lot of money shilling for gun manufa...more
You don't need a high capacity magazine for any game animal. Period. 1) It's unlikely this will cost Colorado anything, and 2) Does anyone remember Bill O'Reilly's boycott on French wine? Too many hunters are allowing themselves to be brainwashed by the money-driven NRA.
How does Walmart not make this list? Hi teaching with pride: Just wondering, in which fair-share state does a 10-year teaching veteran make only $39,000 per year? Thanks for responding. Jack
Hi Jess, Your example is true for locals in general. The article seems to be referring to a couple of people in leadership at the national level. In Every free democracy that outperforms the U.S., there are strong teachers' unions. Read most of these comments to get and idea of who this article was written for - people...more
It says a lot about readers of articles like this that one of the most "liked" comments is factually false and easily proven to be so. Libertytoo states: "Other countries do it much better, with better results and no unions." Not True. In fact all or virtually all of the countries in the top 10 in education performance...more
Which countries that outperform America in education do so without a teachers' union or association of some kind? In Japan, for example, the teachers' union is powerful - and their schools are excellent.
