It seems like the airlines should be able to connect people who lose their luggage to the more unusual items, at least. I would think that a lost $10,000 ring would have someone filing a claim for it. Why can't they put 2 and 2 together and return it to the rightful owner?

Try it, and your business will suffer. I use my CC for most purchases, and pay it off every single month. If I'm charged more, I will go back to cash, which is a lot harder to part with!
I should add that, I've flown often enough in the last 12 years to know that there is always a connecting flight involved. You may be able to get a seat assignement for the main flight, but for the connection, it's often a crap shoot as to where you get seated.

Raising taxes on the wealthy would nudge them towards reinvesting their earnings instead of pulling them out all the time. This grows the economy long-term, making things better for everyone.
This is disgusting. A generation or two ago, a barely literate person could walktz into a factory and immediately get a great paying job, with a pension and great benefits. Now, kids with bachelor's and master's degrees can barely get a min. wage job, or part-time job with no benefits. Whose fault is that????
