Both sides dig in over cutting food stam...

All of these government subsidies are making the cost of things go up anyway, because the market is not truly determining prices.  The food on the WIC program (Milk, cheese, beans, cereal, juice) are through the roof.   A gallon of milk cost more than a gallon of gas.  Rent subsidies have made the cost of rentals skyro...more

I agree.  A lot of these people believe that they cannot provide for themselves and their families because the government says they qualify.  That stigma tends to follow them and their children creating generational welfare.   Providing for yourself and family is not always easy and its not meant to be, but for most pe...more

I can tell you that the answer is not government.  Its too unstable.  With the shrinking tax base due to retiring baby boomers and outsourcing of jobs I don't care how pitiful or unfortunate the story is, government is not the solution. 30 yrs ago when single motherhood was rare that would make a difference.  Today, in my area there are more single mothers than married, divorced, widowed mothers.

No one is starving the children but the parents who continue to have more kids that they cannot support thus further dividing the families meager essentials.  At some point common sense must prevail.  What happens when there is no one left to tax because everyone is either retired, disabled or unemployed?

Sounds like a fantastic life, but a lot of people work and pay taxes and can barely pay their mortgage,  and put food on the table.  These people, Im sure, mind very much about taking care of moochers.

The program should cover the basic food staples.  That's all people need to live healthy lives.  Like, protein (beans, chicken, beef, peanut butter, eggs), starches (rice, potatoes, bread), Milk, cheese, fresh fruits. Just the basic forms not the quick prepared processed, or top of the line stuff either. The people det...more
