Why millions of jobs aren't coming back

@ Jeremy 12341:  In addition to having a low tax rate Ireland is the entry to the EU.  So, you are not talking about a country of a few million; you are talking about the whole European Union (kinda in tatters right now, but will get better).  It's a huge market for American companies.

Why millions of jobs aren't coming back

Don't forget that a lot of U.S. companies sell stuff in other parts of the globe.  In fact, a big part of the earnings of S&P 500 companies come from outside the U.S.  Some companies have northwards of 60%.  So, should we tell all these U.S. based multinationals to only hire U.S. workers or take a hike (my guess is tha...more

US retirement trails other nations'

Oh wow.  We are less generous than Europe.  Thank God!  A lot of the places at the top of the list are imploding now.  It will be years before they recover economically.  They have high unemployment, particularly among the under 25's.  Why should we try to emulate these countries.

Washington vs. the middle class

Hey, I have a great idea.  Let's penalize those US companies that hire in foreign countries.  After all, for a lot of the companies a big portion of their sales and profits come from outside the US.  To solve that problem, the companies can move their headquarters and stock market listing to another country.  That way ...more

Washington vs. the middle class

A lot of this article is BS.  For example, the 27% unemployment rate for 16-19 year olds.  What do you expect, they should be in school and not working full-time.  45 million on food stamps.  That's not good, but why should food stamp dollars be used to buy cakes and expensive cuts of meats.  I see EBT cards being used...more

What's really sad is that the selfish Baby Boomers and their politicians want to keep spending and spending and keep kicking the can down the road until either the can is so beat up that there is nothing left to kick and/or the road ends.  They are passing on an awful legacy to their children and grandchildren. Unfortu...more

No country for rich men

This article is ludicrous.  How can less than 5,000 people, globally, "suck the neighborhood vitality out of great urban centers"?

Tax breaks for seniors a bad deal?

To say a state gives seniors a tax break only because it wants to attract migration from other states is not completely correct.  They also want to keep seniors from leaving.  A state is far better off keeping its relatively wealthy, well-established, residents than they are losing them to another state.

Super Bowl ads: Winners and losers

The Volkswagen/Darth Vader commercial was neat.  The really funny part was the dad giving a "wink" after clicking the remote.
