It was a fund raiser for St Jude's. They either had the home donated or able to get it for less than retail value. Selling tickets for a 100 bucks a pop, they could raise a lot of money that way. St Jude's is a worthy charity and deserving of our support.

Their only option is to sell the house, pay the taxes and keep the rest. Still a good deal, that is unless the government takes it all in taxes.
