Full time working single mom of 2 here. My kids are not a job to me. I am a mom first and totally agree that they are my responsibility. I don't play the mom card, single mom card, working mom card, etc. It's just my life, and I love it even when it is hard.

If you want to adopt from here, I think that is a great idea. Creating a family is an intimate and personal decision, so to me telling someone where they should adopt from is the equivalent of telling a couple what sexual position they should use to conceive their child.
There is a push in other countries toward midwife assisted home deliveries. I am guessing there has to be a reason for someone to deliver at the hospital when the government is picking up the tab.
If the kids' parents can't afford to feed them, why are the kids not on free lunch? There really is no reason why the school should have the responsibility for this. There are programs to handle this. It sucks for the kids that had to go without, but its the parents' fault, not the school's
