You are right. SS was not set up as a retirement fund.  Unfortunately many people expect it to be used that way.   That is why it is so important to put $ away in some sort of retirement fund - start as young as you can!!!   Many employers match a percentage of what you put in and if you are one of the very fortunate p...more

At what age to start collecting SS is a numbers game.  If you had a crystal ball which let you know when you were going to pass, it would be easy to figure out.  Also you need to factor in quality of retirement life - some believe to take it at 62 and live a little while you are still physically able.  Usually by then ...more
