I find a good contrarian barometer is to trend opposite of most of the posters in this forum. In early 09 there was doom and gloom, bail before the DOW goes to 0. Now everything is coming up roses. While I still think we are retooling our economy and may have some turbulence in the short term, I am still optimistic about the US in the long run. We still are the largest manufacturer. We have the largest economy. We have recovered from worse.
I believe in the next 3-5 years a lot of this may become true. I was thinking along the lines that the US is progressing towards becoming the worlds largest oil exporter. We just got to get through the next couple of years of recovery and transition.
