Some customers ashamed of their McDonald...

What?  It's a paper bag, looks like a grocery bag. Big deal.   Are you embarrassed to walk out of Whole Foods with a bag that looks almost exactly like the McDonald's bag?

Depending on where you live, a million is enough.   But............personally, for me, it isn't.

I'm waiting for Obama & Co to tell us it's not "fair" that some of us can retire on money we actually saved ourselves.   He's going to try and take some of it before you retire.

I doubt you can "do anything you want" even after saving 34 yrs at a "low level non management job".  You can't buy a $10 mill house, a $5 mill yacht and a $7 mill jet for example.  Still, I get your point.  Good job at saving.  I've done the same thing.

Should anyone buy bonds?

Good advice golf pal.  There's a place for bonds at all times in a portfolio.

I always mix bond funds in my diversified long term portfolio.  If you are worried about  a bond correction then keep the term under 6 years or so, even shorter if you can't sleep at night.  In the next Recession or stock correction, stocks will probably tank farther than bonds.

Munis, treasurys didn't go bankrupt.  If they do, you won't have a job or soc security or anything else.
