the corporation makes money off franchise fees.  the fees are based on market share.  lower prices increase market share. owners can whine all they want, but the marketing will be whatever the corporation wants.  and the corporation wants market share, not profit

store did away with door greeters.  next big inventory, (surprise surprise) twilight zone levels of missing merchandise.  now door greeters are back along with off-duty police officers just to get the situation back under control.  lesson learned.
