you are right, german engineering junk, my 1966 MB 220 Diesel with automatic transmission only has 562,000 miles on it, of course I've maintained it well, my wife likes american vehicles, Ford, Chevrolet, Chrysler products, have gone thru them all, after 150,000 miles the fall apart.
