As long as the 300K is racked up before the diagnostic equipment is outdated most of the later auto's have a chance. When the warranty is out the dealerships get rid of equipment that supports basic repairs. I have an 1989 Caprice that fortunately requires few diagnostic hookups to tune up. I don't know a lot about Dodge/Chrysler small engines. The only small Dodge I owned was a 1974 Colt that had a Mitubishi engine. I put 160K on it befor the mains wore out.
The early 60's slant six slung oil terribly after 100k but would run for ever if you changed the oil every so often between adding it.

Just a suggestion. If you like the car you have now have it rebuilt when you see it needs it.
A new engine or transmission have a three year warranty on them when a certified garage does the work. $1500-2500 for each component if you shop around for them.
