1848? Somebody better get their dates right, because:   "Nearby mills and factory machines, which used power generated from the Falls, had to be shut down."   WTH? The falls didn't even start generating electricity till what... 1881?   So how many times have the falls run dry? Apparently more than once.

I was taught that the average horse could handle a rider + gear weight of around 250 lbs give or take. I'm 6'-2" and 230 lbs. My tack adds another 50 lbs. so I know I'm a bit over the limit, but the horse I ride, a 1200 lb. 16-2 hand gelding is none the worse for wear. Actually, many people do ride cows. Google "riding steers" then click "search the web". Haven't ridden one myself, but would like to try it someday.

Clydesdales are draft horses. Horses meant to pull farm equipment. They were also used to carry knights and were also known as "Heavy horses".
