I've worked on these types of roof 15 yrs old or so and all the nails had worked their way loose and roof was leaking.  Can't beat the real thing, tile or similar.

Whatever you do don't hire a real carpenter.  You might get professional results you could be proud to show anyone.  These guys are becoming a thing of the past.  As soon as the last of the real ones move on we can all be happy with total mediocrity.
