I don't know why ppl like to bad mouth American cars. Other than Toyota and Honda, I think Chrysler, Ford, and GM made the most reliable cars in the world. Just ask your mechanics if they want to work on a Jaugaurs or Range Rovers.

Car payment can easily go over $600 for something nice.
My dad bought a 08 Toyota Highlander new, $30,000 OTD. $6000 down payment, 3 yr loan with 1.9% interest, his monthly payment was $$686
If it was a 5 yr loan, it would be $420/month
now imagine something more expensive, with a normal 5% interest loan.
Like what kind of used car? a certified used car can still rack up $500 monthly payment. a cheap clunker will eat you up in repair bill. Anything in between, banks don't like making a loan on high mileage(over 100k) or cars older than 6 year

If she has bad credit, some down payment, with high interest rate that make up large portion of the $678, someone will give you the loan. Because they figure even if you get re-po in 1 yrs, the bank still comes out ahead.
Or if you decided you can't afford it and refinance, or trade it in for another car to lower you...more
