There is another line of thinking... If it is not yours fight it, if it is your debt, pay it. If you borrowed money and didn't pay it back, you stole their money. I had a zombie debt pop up and I paid it. Why? Because I legitimately owed the money, I had lost my job and couldn't pay at the time.
