Preparedness is never useless despite the actions of others.  I feel the real taboo subject here is mental illness.  When my Asperger son leaves his academic career, his human-interaction teachings will leave him, there's limited resources for our young adult children; but he can always go out and get gun training.

The shooter HAD gun safety allegedly.  But I agree, we give our kids immunizations and boosters, why not Gun Preparedness Training around 12 and again before they go out into the world at 18?  Keep guns at the ranges and let 'them' deal with securing their weaponry that we 'rent, use' while LEARNING gun safety.

Even after Tuesday, the calendar says, "WTF"!  This sounds pretty chic, however, most schools dictate that backpacks are NOT allowed in classrooms, so this would not have been beneficial to the Newtown circumstances - not even Columbine; only Virginia Tech.
