A plastic barrel is just plane stupid as it'll warp and wear smooth very quickly.  Maybe if someone was using carbon fiber or something that actually dissipates heat well you'd have a decent shot at producing something but with plastic there is no chance for an item with longevity.

You'll be taxed on the materials and you'll be taxed more than buying a metal gun with how often your going to be replacing parts on that POS.  Good luck with a 21st century derringer that wont stay together very long as the barrel is plastic.

He'd corner the market as those plastic things are always going to need replacement parts.  But who wants something so inaccurate.  With the wear and tear in the barrel and lack of rifling it'll never be accurate at any distance.  Just an idea and a trinket is all it is.

Who cares.  It's their business they can do what they want.  If they want to cater to a fit active scene and not to the overweight so be it.  You have the choice not to buy it or slim down to fit into their clothes.
