You don't go to college to get a job. You go to get an education. The fact that the author is surprised that half or so are "underemployed" is just a symptom of this misperception. Again, you do not go to college to get a job. You go to college to get an education.
p.s. only about 48% of college students got a...more
No easy answer, but its the right question. The tax "code" is the mine field we can no longer navigate without exploding something. Pardon the crude analogy, but its time we demolished that mine field. When the dust settles, whatever we come up with next has to be better that what we've got.
Why do I think someone would do this? Same reason this happens to people everyday. Either some redneck banged up on drugs and alcohol trying to prove his manhood to a group of guys that don't have any, or some ghetto dwelling, IQ resistant, impotent street gang just wanting to experience the power of "popping a cap" ...more
I understand your point, but I cannot agree. Since when is any government justified in charging 48% of income from any one? Are you ok with the government selling lottery tickets and pocketing 50% of sales, then taxing the jackpot by another 50% just because the winner spent $2 to win $200 million?
This is the perfect example of how your "fair share" can be exploited under our tax code. While being all about ending tax amnesty for corporations and loop holes for the 1%, I am reminded once again of just how ludicrous our tax system truly is on the 1% side of the equation. Kill the code. Do it now. For everybod...more
If this character actually believes that Genesis is an accurate explanation of the "creation" myth, then he also must believe that species from other planets inhabited the earth in the remote past. Genesis chpt 6, v.1-4. Or are the "sons of god" and the "men of renown" and "giants" just literature ?
Did you forget about fuel costs? Not to be the analyst nerd on this thread, but everything we buy is more expensive because of fuels costs. The price of a barrel of oil today is 2/3 of what is was in 2008, but the price of gas at the pump is the same or sometimes higher. You do the math. Are you paying more for a b...more
Not "chicken little" exactly, more like "bean counter". If you sit in some office watching supply and demand on a computer screen, the "alarm" sounds when there are not as many beans as you thought there would be.
