No easy answer, but its the right question.  The tax "code" is the mine field we can no longer navigate without exploding something.   Pardon the crude analogy, but its time we demolished  that mine field.  When the dust settles, whatever we come up with next has to be better that what we've got.

I understand your point, but I cannot agree.  Since when is any government justified in charging 48% of income from any one?  Are you ok with the government selling lottery tickets and pocketing 50% of sales, then taxing the jackpot by another 50% just because the winner spent $2 to win $200 million?

Not to mention the accounting profession.  What would the unemployment line look like if your federal tax return was simple and the tax you pay already collected - correctly.
