also do research on how much $ the executives make. the organizations have to post financials on their websites. I won't do functions or events with charities if the execs make a lot of money!

make sure the organization doesn't keep a percentage for administration and overhead (rent or lease of a facility). i fund my public charity administrative costs/overhead out of my  pocket and 100% of donations go to the donors designated events or programs.
