I don't recall mentioning ploughshares or walking away from our nations responsibility to protect its citizen's interests, but let's recall we did have a budget surplus prior to the Bush Administration.  Cutting taxes and increasing spending is a recipe for disaster and now we are sitting at the dinner table.

And yet, if we were not ensuring the flow of oil through the gulf, you would be complaining that the administration is failing to protect the interests of our nation.  There is a significant difference in showing strength and pulling the trigger.
