I just streamed a movie on Netflix titled ‘Money And Medicine’. I watched it twice and took some notes. By 2050 Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security will consume 70% of our national budget. But wait, by 2050 just the interest on our national debt will consume 70% of our budget. We clearly can’t afford both. The botto...more

I can't believe how many people are worried about dying early. It's not too late to change your diet to a plant-strong diet. You can review the book "My Beef wth Meat: The Healthiest Argument for Eating a Plant-Strong Diet..." at Amazon.com. That is the good news that this book conveys. You can turn your health around ...more

I read some of the best (by vote anyway) comments and most are saying take social security at 62. Well OK. That is actuallly better for social security in the long run because many of you will indeed live past 82.5 yrs, which is the break even point. The article is spot on. If you don't really need it yet then why take...more

I totally agree with what you are saying but I'll go you one further. Whoever thought it was a good idea to buy something so expensive that it takes you 30 yrs to pay for it? Local governments and homeowner's associations are using exclusionary zoning devices to raise housing costs in order to exclude lower income grou...more

Someone once said to me "I wish all you (white people) would just go somewhere and die." I did not reply but I later...more

You collect 8% more for every year you wait. So in your example it would be $1,640/mo at age 70. The break even point is at 82.5 years. It only takes him 12.5 years to catch up.

If Letterman were to post top ten mistakes retirees make it might look something like this. 10) You got born..well technically that was your parent's mistake   9) Your employer of over 20 years calls you in for a 'meeting' and informs you that you are being       terminated...hey wait that was their mistake and ...more

Is the joy of less stuff spreading?

I am a firm believer that smaller is better. But you'll need to end the unconstitutional and very harmful practice of exclusionary zoning before people have a real housing choice. Our homeowner's association has a 1,200 square foot restriction. Your home has to be at least 1,200 square feet and that doesn't include ope...more

Foreclosure victims to receive checks

The fact that we hear the phrase “protect property values” so often just confirms that the housing market is both dysfunctional and irrational. While cars depreciate in value, a properly priced home that is kept up should only increase in value at most at the rate of inflation. All the people struggling against evictio...more
