ISlapYou - you forget that the money used to make the investment in the first place was already taxed when it was first paid via paycheck. The dividends and capital gains tax is ON TOP OF the ordinary income tax already paid.

sgpana, your "rule" does not work for everybody. Many people bust their butts to earn a lot of money, then one day realize that money doesn't buy happiness, and they wish they had more time to be with family and friends. Alex Agner had it right, as long as the employee gets to choose, it's a good thing.
The article says the employee could choose to take either overtime or more vacation, and could later cash out the vacation if wanted. Yes, the cashed-out vacation will most likely be at 1x pay, not 1.5x pay, but some people might still prefer more vacation time. Options are good.
