Yep!  I did one, a heart with my and my (now) wifes initials, complete with arrow.  This was about 50 years ago in the San Gabriel Mountains above Los Angeles.  If fires, old age or flood, it was on the San Gabriel River headwaters, didn't get it I guess it's still there.
